Occupational Therapy

At Yellow Door Kids, we understand how important it is for kids to grow, play, and connect with the world around them. Occupational Therapy (OT) is all about helping children build the skills they need to thrive in everyday life — from tying shoelaces and holding a pencil to navigating big emotions and building friendships.

So… What Exactly Is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy focuses on supporting children's to perform everyday tasks through therapeutic techniques, adaptations, or environmental changes.
These challenges might relate to:
-
Fine motor skills (e.g., writing, buttoning clothes)
-
Sensory processing (e.g., sensitivity to noise or textures)
-
Emotional regulation (e.g., managing big feelings)
-
Executive functioning, including attention and focus
-
Social interaction and play skills
-
Daily routines (e.g., getting dressed, using utensils, brushing teeth)
Our OTs are trained to spot the why behind the challenge and work with your child (and you!) to build the skills and confidence they need to thrive.

What Does a Session Look Like?
Sessions are fun, goal-focused, and tailored to your child’s unique personality and needs. Whether it's climbing, drawing, puzzles, or pretend play — everything is designed with purpose.
You’ll be part of the process, too. We believe in open communication, clear goals, and strategies you can use at home to keep progress going beyond our sessions.
